Small live classes, real projects, and children who are proud of what they built. Here is what that looks like at home.
Since she started with TekiToki, I don't even have to ask her about her homework anymore.
She just comes to show me she's done so she can start coding. I didn't expect such a big change in Eliana until her computer teacher called me to say she was impressed that Eliana was already doing coding.
I'm really proud of her, and I thank TekiToki Academy and Educator Anne for getting her there. It took a while, but I'm happy she understands things better now and is more confident about asking questions when she doesn't understand something.
I've noticed that there is this new confidence in him whenever he finishes a project. He is always calling me to come and see what he has made, and you can tell he is really proud of himself. It's not just that he is learning coding, he now feels like he can actually create something and show people what he has done.
I was honestly worried that adding coding to everything else would affect her schoolwork, especially with her IGCSE coming up. I kept asking if she wasn't taking on too much, but after her assessment at TekiToki, those worries went away. She passed the assessment, and what surprised me even more was that she became more dedicated to her books too. She has been managing both much better than I expected.
I was worried Divine wouldn't get it because he has always been a quiet boy and doesn't talk much. At one point, I even joined one of his classes, and honestly, everything they were saying looked hard to me, so I was worried. Only for me to start testing my son at home and he was actually getting it! His result in their last assessment amazed me, and I'm just happy my son has found his thing
For his younger brother's birthday, he made a little photo carousel website for him. I was honestly surprised because he'd just been asking me for his brother's pictures out of the blue. He just wanted to make something for his brother, and he was so excited showing us how it worked. Seeing that kind of confidence and initiative from him makes me very happy.
Because my child is still young, I was thinking maybe we should wait until she was 15 or so before she started coding. But we decided to take a leap of faith, and I was honestly surprised when she brought her laptop home and started showing me the coding she had done. This small girl at 11 was already doing all this! I can't wait to see what comes next. Educator Anne, gbosa for you oo!
“I used to complain about how much time my son spent watching Kai Cenat and other streamers. He had so much free time and, honestly, I didn't like how he was spending it. When I first told him about TekiToki, he wasn't happy at all, but now he actually enjoys it and is doing something productive with his time. Even our relationship has gotten better because I'm not always telling him to leave his phone or stop watching videos. I'm really happy with the change I've seen in him.”
Every student builds and presents a project. These are their web pages, written by them.
That's completely fine. Our classes are designed for beginners, so your child doesn't need to know how to code or have advanced computer skills before they start. They learn step by step, with support from their educator as they build their skills.
No. We understand that school comes first. Our goal is to help your child develop a useful skill without taking away from their academics. In fact, many parents notice that their children become more organised, focused and confident about their school work as they learn to solve problems through coding.
Yes, because your child is learning a skill they can use beyond the classroom. Coding gives them a chance to create, solve problems and understand technology instead of only consuming it. Whether they eventually pursue technology or not, the ability to think through problems and build something from an idea is useful in any career.
